Hi! Iโ€™m Simi ๐Ÿ’œ

Want to make me laugh?

Use loose/lose incorrectly or cough up the classic itโ€™s/its.

It's kinda strange, but I love typos.

They build character. Make for some funny misunderstandings.

Keep you humble.

But theyโ€™re also splattered in supermarket packaging, job descriptions and in every menu on the planet.

(Seriously. Hand me a menu and I'll spot it within 2 secs).

Try me.
I donโ€™t really like talking about my achievements.
Most LinkedIn posts give me the ick.
I find posing for pics super uncomfortable.
And... I call myself a writer, but I havenโ€™t touched my screenplay in about a year. Sad!
If I could do anything?! My dream job would be to write the labels and captions for artwork in exhibitions and museums. Can't believe people get to do that. The dream!!!

How I fell (face first) into copywriting

I graduated with a Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) from RMIT University in 2018.

I was set to join the newsroom and eventually become an investigative journalist, but after 30 rejected job applications I fell into freelance copywriting instead.

Face first.

Did I know what I was doing? I mean, do any of us?

After working full-time for a short period and kind of ~dying inside~ I found my way back to academia and spent the next 2.5 years studying a Master of Creative Writing, Publishing and Editing at the University of Melbourne.

Fast forward to the good part, where Iโ€™ve landed a pretty sweet part-time role at a fab media agency and Iโ€™m ~freelancing~ on the sweet side.

Still think I wouldโ€™ve made a great investigative journalist.

Maybe one day.
